The CARE Project, Inc., a Riverside-based nonprofit supporting breast cancer survivors, has awarded a $5,000 grant to the children of Danny Riggs, who died from metastatic breast cancer. The donation is part of their “Adam’s Angels” program, which offers financial relief to children who’ve lost a parent to the disease, allowing them to focus on grieving and maintaining as normal a life as possible. Originally inspired by the story of a young mother named Carmen who died at age 30 leaving behind her son Adam, the program has now distributed approximately $8,000 in total grants.
