Pat Washburn and her husband, Marlyn, were married 22 years when Marlyn was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer. Just five months after his diagnosis Marlyn lost his life to the disease. Knowing many people were unaware that men could also get breast cancer, Pat chose to actively be involved with educating others. After Marlyn’s death, she turned his car into a moving billboard honoring Marlyn with a photo of him on the hood. Pat has driven over 100,000 miles throughout North America with this car bringing awareness and educating others. Pat has even traveled to Spain and Belgium raising awareness and showing support to men diagnosed with breast cancer. Meeting and helping the men and their families is Pat’s passion. She serves as the Director of The CARE Project’s Men 2 Program.
